Indiana Life Sciences Collaboration Series - The “Consumerization” of Medical Product Marketing

The first conference in the series is quickly approaching!  The conference takes place on September 23, 2011 at Indianapolis- IU School of Medicine, Walther Hall (Research Building III) Auditorium.

Overview

Even as healthcare policy reform debates continue, seismic shifts in how life sciences companies interact with consumers have begun occurring. Patients are more involved in their own care path than ever before, relying on direct to consumer advertising, the Internet and social media for answers long before they ever see a physician. Traditional medical technology and life science products seem to be converging with consumer electronics, IT, and telecommunications devices that consumers already own. Medical devices are now expected to connect to smartphones and home wireless hubs, while drug companies provide smartphone apps and intelligent pill bottles to their patients to help improve patient medication adherence.

What do these changes mean for life sciences companies? How should products be marketed when marketing is becoming interactive? Are patients able to make risk-informed decisions? What are the regulatory challenges and are the regulators adapting quickly enough? How should companies adapt to a paradigm in which consumers have more influence and control over the products used in their care? Keynote speakers and panelists will explore these questions and engage participants in a wide-ranging discussion of where these trends could lead.

Speakers and Panelists Include:

  • Anthony Delli Colli, Vice President of Marketing, Elbrys Networks

Miles Printing is a printing partner for the conference, providing printed invitations, programs and other event materials for the conference.

Now in it’s third year, the 2011 Midwest Healthcare Supply Chain Conference is increasingly recognized for it’s excellence in peer-to-peer networking and outstanding content.

Last year, the conference attracted over 200 participants and over 30% growth in audience and sponsor participation over the previous year. The conference provides a forum for creating success and working through legal and scientific challenges for many types of life science healthcare organizations. The two-day program includes keynote presentations, case studies and round table discussions. Presentations from manufacturers, healthcare providers, academicians, regulators and service providers will offer information to the delegates in large and small group settings.

As a part of our continued support of Indiana life sciences, Miles Printing is proud to be a sponsor of the 2010-2011 Indiana Life Sciences Collaboration conference.

This series, organized by the Kelley School of Business Center for Business of Life Sciences (CBLS), is always well attended by local life science followers.

The most recent conference of the Collaboration Series was on February 25, 2011. Held at Barnes & Thornburg, LLC, in downtown Indianapolis, the conference was titled “An Update on Regulatory Compliance.”

Attendees heard about recent changes in how the FDA performs in its role due to new government leadership, regulation and legislation. Strategies for the future included looking at increased regulatory scrutiny, liability issues, and subsequent delays in the availability of new products.

The day long event began with breakfast networking and continued through the afternoon with a series of renowned speakers from universities, government, life science organizations, pharmaceutical companies, and leading doctors. Panel discussion focused on new product reviews and approvals.

Miles Printing is honored to be a part of this vital series and the Indiana life sciences industry. To find out about future conferences in this series, click here. Special reduced student fees are available.

Frameworx is the name of an exciting new conference series developed by BioCrossroads. The series will consist of five sessions throughout the year. Not only will experts provide their views and information during the conference series, but they will be set up in a conversation format, with specific, educational, timely topics relevant to different parts of the life sciences sector.

Sessions will run from 8:30-10 am, specifically designed to accommodate busy professionals.  And in an effort to have the subject matter live on beyond the day’s session, there will be brief reports published from each Frameworx meeting that capture the highlights of that session. Miles Printing will be printing these reports as well as signage at each event.

Frameworx’ kick-off session was held on February 8th and titled, “Indiana’s Life Sciences Innovation Engine: Full Steam Ahead?” Held at D’Amore on the 48th floor of the Chase Building in downtown Indianapolis, the keynote was provided by Dr. Jan Lundberg, Executive Vice President for Science and Technology, Eli Lilly and Company, and President of Lilly Research Laboratories.

In keeping with Framworx’ format, Dr. Lundberg’s presentation was followed by a panel discussion with experts from Indiana corporations and universities, moderated by David Johnson, President and CEO of BioCrossroads.

The next Frameworx conference is scheduled for Tuesday, March 22, 2011.  The title is “Pathways to Partnerships: Roche Acquisition of Marcadia Biotech.” The keynote address will be provided by Fritz French and Kent Hawryluk of Marcadia Biotech.

The exclusive printing sponsor of the series, Miles Printing is pleased to continue its support of the Indiana Life Sciences sector.

The health and life science industry is thriving in Indiana, thanks in part to IHIF (Indiana Health Industry Forum.)  The Forum, a non-profit organization, exists to connect Indiana health industry stakeholders with business networks, to advocate for member interests, develop workforce skills, and provide strategic vision to help grow the state’s health industry economy and reputation. Miles Printing is proud to be an active supporter of this vibrant, forward-thinking organization.

Miles is pleased to support IHIF and life sciences in Indiana by providing printed materials for the March 9th annual meeting at University Place Conference Center. The meeting features a keynote by John Fernandez, Assistant Secretary of the U.S. Department of Commerce and Economic Development Administration for President Obama.

Mr. Fernandez’s topic will be “Innovation Policy in the Obama Administration,” and will be followed by an IHIF board member panel discussion and a networking discussion. As the Administrator of the EDA, Fernandez is charged with leading the federal economic development agenda by promoting innovation and competitiveness, preparing American regions for growth and success in the global economy.

Besides his reputation as a strategic thinker, creative problem solver and effective manager, Fernandez has strong Indiana roots. A first generation American, Fernandez received his law degree from Indiana University as well as a Master of Public Affairs degree and his B.S. from the IU School of Public and Environment Affairs. He served as Bloomington’s mayor from 1996 to 2003, working with business and Indiana University leaders to launch Bloomington’s Life Sciences Partnership, creating more than 3,700 jobs. He also developed an aggressive downtown revitalization plan resulting in more than $100 million in new investments.

The Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association (HBA) helps women in the healthcare industry advance their personal and career goals through insightful programming, networking, and access to healthcare resources. Miles Printing is an active member of the Indiana Chapter, founded in October 2003, and already one hundred members strong.

The last several years have been particularly notable for the HBA Indiana Chapter, hosting a number of high quality programs including a Leadership Conference, forming an Executive Advisory Council to provide strategic guidance to the local Board of Directors, and launching a members-only Mentoring Pilot Program to match up-and-coming healthcare professionals with seasoned industry executives. Perhaps most importantly, the chapter recently celebrated a significant milestone by welcoming its 100th member to the ranks.

Indiana is noted for fostering life science initiatives, healthcare and science-related technologies, and the HBA Indiana Chapter looks forward to continuing to deliver value to its members and the local healthcare community in the years ahead. Miles Printing is pleased to be a part of this forward-thinking organization, and welcomes the opportunity to provide help and support toward the many healthcare education resources that HBA provides.

Miles POP was pleased to provide all signage & printed material for the Indiana Life Sciences Conference
